Research in focus: The mouth – a part of the body
a part of the body
Oral health research is essential for understanding the links between oral health and diseases in the body. By studying the risk factors, preventive measures and treatments for problems such as dental infections, tooth grinding and poor oral health, we can improve diagnosis, treatment and oral care products, and increase understanding of the relationship between oral health and general health.

Faculty of Odontology
The research covers various fields, from molecular biological studies of oral tissues to comprehensive studies of oral health across generations, social classes and groups. International collaboration is central and we often collaborate across disciplines.
Research on prevention
Research on prevention
Foresight is conducting research to find tools that identify patients at risk of caries and tooth loss. The goal is to develop new biomarkers and prevention strategies for clinical dentistry.
Biological interfaces
Biological interfaces
The Biofilm Research Centre focuses on biological interfaces and is an interdisciplinary research centre in material and life sciences, with a focus on biological surfaces such as skin and mucous membranes. Collaboration with industry is central to the research.
