Research that maps and analyses the social dimensions of the city
Urban Social Atlas Öresund presents critical, text and image-based research on current urban issues in the Öresund region. Research on housing, segregation, urban planning, and urban nature is presented by the mediums of maps, short texts, photographic essays, drawings and visualisations. The purpose is to contribute to the dissemination and accessibility of urban research through open publications.
Writing workshops for the Urban Social Atlas
Writing workshops for the Urban Social Atlas
Cities is organising a writing workshop for the Urban Social Atlas Öresund on 12 December. The atlas, which was launched in June, is continuously developed through authors' contributions. With regular writing days, we want to encourage new additions that keep the atlas updated and growing. Authors who wish to contribute to the Urban Social Atlas Öresund can submit their manuscript to the editorial team. The language of publication is Swedish, Danish, and English.
Education
The knowledge environment Cities brings together programmes in: built environment, environmental science, and urban studies. The learning environment is creative and dynamic with several international partners and exchange opportunities. There are three bachelor's programmes, a one-year master's programme (in Swedish), two international master's programmes, and a doctoral programme in urban studies.
Master's programmes in English
Collaboration
Cities participate in several international research networks:
- Association of European Schools of Planning (AESOP)
- European Network for Housing and Urban Research (ENHR)
- European Urban Research Association (EURA)
- Nordisk arkitekturforskning (NaF)
- Nordic Geographers Meeting (NGM)
- University Network of Post-Industrial Cities (UNIC)
Nationally, we collaborate on urban development and sustainability issues within the framework of a national network of planning programmes, and, through the City of Malmö, the Urban Academy. We also participate as experts in panel debates and reference groups.
