Presentation
My doctoral research focuses on labour market projects in Malmö that are co-funded by the European Social Fund. By targeting so called economically weak and geographically defined areas and their inhabitants and making them subject to different kinds of labour market activities, the projects aim at contributing to economic growth and social cohesion. Alongside with interviews, texts and visual representations form the main empirical components. Theoretically I draw upon themes of politics, space, governmentality and post-colonialism. My main interest is to look into different aspects of how common-sense making is created through articulation, visualization and calculation, and what impact this way of governing has for those involved in the projects, but also for society and the possibility for societal change.
