Malmö University launches unique master's programme with the Internet of Things (IoT) as its main subject

According to programme coordinator Romina Spalazzese, there is no other similar programme in Sweden today.

"The demand for people with technical competence in this area is expected to increase dramatically," she says and continues:

"The programme covers technical aspects, human factors, innovation, and business models. To strengthen Sweden's position in IoT, it is of fundamental importance to provide students with relevant knowledge and skills in the subject."

The programme has been developed in collaboration with companies in the sector and is designed to meet the demand in the labour market when it comes to capitalising on different types of connected everyday devices, vehicles and machines.

30 billion connected devices

One of the strongest trends in information and communication technology is the remarkable increase of connected devices in society. According to the industry's own forecasts, these are expected to number upwards of 30 billion by 2025.

The programme has been developed in collaboration with companies in the sector and is designed to meet the demand in the labour market when it comes to capitalising on different types of connected everyday devices, vehicles and machines.

High demand in the labour market

Through various activities, companies will have close contact with the students, for example through guest lectures and thesis work. After the master's programme, the students will have a unique set of skills that can help companies develop products and services to stay or become globally competitive

"As a result of the rapid development of various IoT-based smart cities and e-health solutions, our students will have professional opportunities in both private and public sectors," says Romina Spalazzese.
