Are you searching for texts for a project or paper? Scientific and peer-reviewed articles? And how exactly does it work with e-books? Here are some tips to get you started!

Search scholarly texts

Here you can find search engines that are good to start with, and in many of them, you can limit your search to scholarly journals, peer review or dissertations.

Libsearch – the library’s books and articles

Libsearch is the library’s search engine and here you can find our books, both those that can be borrowed and e-books.

You can also find articles, conference reports and other texts from the library’s various databases. You can limit your search to “Scholarly and peer review”. You can also limit the search by selecting “Academic journals”, or a specific time period, subject etc.

Libsearch is set to show what you have access to via the library. You can widen your search by unticking the field limitation “Electronic and printed material via the library”.

In the library’s database list you can see if results from a specific database are included when you perform a search in Libsearch.

Google Scholar – change the settings to find the library’s journal articles

Google Scholar is an alternative to Libsearch when searching for scientific articles. You need to change the settings in Google Scholar to display the full text link if the library has the article:

  • Go to settings in Google Scholar
  • Select “Library links”
  • Search for Malmö University or Mau
  • Tick “Malmö University - Fulltext via Mau” and save your choice

LIBRIS – Swedish books and books in Swedish libraries

In Libris you can find books within your subject that are found in some other library in Sweden, and you also see all literature published in Sweden. In addition to regular books, there are also reports from Swedish authorities and organisations, among other things. In Libris you can also limit your search to dissertations.

In the link to Libris from the library’s website, Malmö University has been selected as “My libraries”. You will immediately see that the book is available at the library, otherwise the link “Interlibrary loan/order” is displayed.

Students and staff can order books free of charge as an interlibrary loan or provide purchase suggestions.

Swepub – research publications from Swedish universities and university colleges

Swepub is a good starting point for searching among Swedish researchers’ publications, such as articles, conference proceedings, dissertations etc.

If the text is not linked from Swepub, you can try searching for it in Libsearch or Google Scholar.

Use Malmö University's link to PubMed to get the "Find full text"-connection to journal articles in PubMed. You find the link here, and in Databases A-Z.

Find databases within your subject or field of education

Tips on databases for different subjects and fields of education are provided in the library’s subject guides. Furthermore, you can check in the list of library databases, where you will also see if results from a particular database are included when you search in Libsearch.

Student essays

Find inspiration from student theses written in your subject – what literature, methods and theories are used? Reading other students work can give you an idea of how to get started with your degree project.
