Malmö Academic Choir and Orchestra
Choir and Orchestra
Malmö Academic Choir and Orchestra is recognised as one of the region’s most prominent ensembles. Both the choir and orchestra are known for their high level of musicianship, engaging concerts, and progressive repertoire.
Malmö Academic Choir and Orchestra
The choir and orchestra aim to provide an environment in which singers and instrumentalists can practice music as part of an exceptionally skilled and diverse group.
Malmö Academic Choir and Orchestra play a host of concerts throughout the year, and are a regular feature in the University's academic calendar. Their programme also includes festivals and reoccurring concerts, such as Christmas and traditional Swedish Lucia celebrations, delighting concert goers.
How to get involved
Are you an accomplished musician? Becoming a member of the Malmö Academic Choir and Orchestra is a wonderful opportunity to perform both classic and contemporary pieces while meeting new people and being part of a friendly and dedicated ensemble. As a member, you'll be granted access to rehearsal rooms at the University.
Each summer, Malmö Academic Choir and Orchestra go on an international tour, financed by their concerts throughout the year. Previous destinations have included Brazil, China, South Africa and Cuba.
Auditions
Anyone who wishes to join Malmö Academic Choir and Orchestra is required to audition. In terms of criteria, vocalists need to be able to read sheet music and have experience of singing as part of an ensemble. Musicians must be highly proficient in their chosen instrument. Please note that rehearsals take place every week and that regular attendance is expected.
If you are interested in becoming a member, please email our Conductor and Artistic Director, Daniel Hansson, to schedule an audition. Please include a few lines about yourself, as well as a description of your musical background and some examples of where you have previously performed.
Rehearsals
- The orchestra rehearses every Tuesday, 18.30–21.00
- The choir rehearses every Wednesday, 18.30–21.00
