EU/EEA citizens and those from countries with health agreements with Sweden can access health benefits with the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC). Obtain EHIC from local authorities for care at standard fees, including for children requiring essential care.

Malmö University has acquired insurance for foreign visitors who are affiliated with the University and lack adequate insurance protection. This insurance provides coverage for personal injuries, medical and dental care, home transport, personal property, third-party liability, and legal expenses.

Getting around
Cycling
Cycling
Malmö is a cycling city. Here you cycle everywhere, all the time, all year round. You can rent bikes at over 100 different rental stations in Malmö.
Buses and trains
Buses and trains
The easiest way to travel on buses and trains in Malmö and throughout Skåne is by the Skånetrafiken app. On the city buses in Malmö you can tap your debit card against the payment terminal. Please note that you cannot pay with cash on any of the buses or trains.

There are many taxi companies in Malmö to choose from. Only licensed taxi companies are allowed to provide taxi services in Sweden. Approved taxis have yellow number plates and have metered fares, the prices should be indicated on the rear door window.

International Staff Support organises social events for international employees and guests in the region. Registered guests will automatically receive event invitations and information. The group also provides useful information and updates on upcoming events.

When coming as an internship student to or through Malmo University, you are able to join our chat app Unibuddy and our Buddy programme, to meet other students at the university before and after arrival. Sign up for the Buddy programme and email us to get an invitation to UniBuddy.
